  • The DSPE’s purview was broadened to encompass all central government agencies, and it had the authority to eradicate corruption at any cost. 
  • In 1963, the Indian Home Minister D.P. Kohli gave the DSPE its current name, the CBI.

Structure of CBI 

Up to 2014, the CBI Director was appointed in accordance with the DSPE Act, of 1946. When the Lokpal Act of 2014 went into effect, things improved. According to the statute, the committee composed of the following individuals may appoint the CBI Director:
