Why RTI is important for every Indian?

Every Indian should be aware of RTI, or the right to information, as it gives citizens the freedom to request information from public bodies and encourages accountability, openness, and good governance. RTI matters for the following reasons, to name a few:

1. Transparency:

RTI gives citizens access to data on how the government operates, including its policies, choices, and deeds. This openness aids in reducing corruption, encouraging accountability, and ensuring that public servants behave in the citizens’ best interests.

2. Accountability:

People can hold public authorities responsible for their conduct by using their right to knowledge. It enables citizens to challenge authorities, look for justifications, and obtain specifics on the use of public resources.

3. Participatory democracy:

By giving citizens the knowledge they need to make wise decisions, RTI fosters public engagement in governance. It makes it possible for people and civil society organisations to comprehend and participate in political and social concerns and discussions.
