What is the CBSE full form?

CBSE stands for Central Board of Secondary Education. CBSE is regulated and run by the Indian Union Government which is the national board of education body for private and public schools in India. NCERT curriculum criteria are followed by the CBSE in all the affiliated schools. There are around 220 affiliated and 20,999 CBSE schools in 28 other countries. 

History of CBSE 

  • Firstly, in 1921, the first education board was established in Uttar Pradesh, India which comes under the jurisdiction of Rajputana, Gwalior and Central India. 
  • In 1929, the Board of High Education and Intermediate Education was established by the Government of India. 
  • After that, it was restricted to Bhopal, Ajmer and Vindhya Pradesh. 
  • Later in 1952, it became the Central Board of Secondary Education. 

Eligibility for CBSE 

Students in class 10 take the CBSE’s AISSE exam, while those in class twelve take the AISSCE exam. Every year, the CBSE administers the National Eligibility Test (NET), which is used to hire teachers.

  • The AISSE and AISSCE exams for grades 10 and 12 are only open to enrolled students in schools connected to the CBSE.
  • Students who obtain their Master’s degree in social sciences, humanities, or a related discipline from a board or university recognised by the UGC with an overall percentage of over 55% are eligible to take the NET exam, according to CBSE norms.

Exams Conducted by CBSE

  • Class 10th and 12th final exams are conducted by CBSE.
  • CBSE conducts JEE exam every year. For getting admission to architectural programs and undergraduate engineering in India. 
  • A competitive exam NEET( National Eligibility and Entrance Test) is administrated by CBSE for getting admission to top medical colleges. 
  • A yearly exam conducted by CBSE for hiring instructors for central educational schools is CTET( Central Teachers Eligibility Test). 
  • For appointing professors at universities and colleges the National Eligibility Test is taken which is conducted by CBSE.
