1.  Bhikaji Cama

Bhikaji Cama, also known as Madam Cama, has a famous slogan linked to her, “India must be free, India must be a republic, India must be united”. On the other hand, she is the first person who hoist the Indian flag on a foreign land, Germany. 

2.  Peer Ali Khan

Peer Ali Khan participated in the Freedom Struggle of 1857. On the other hand, he was a full-time rebel and consistently conducted campaigns against the British Raj. Begum Hazrat Mahal was the second queen of Wajid-Ali-Shah who was Nawab of Awadh. On the other hand, she was the leading female who rebelled against the British Raj during the revolt of 1857. Author Qurratulain Hyder has written a famous quote for the queen, “Begum Hazrat Mahal of Oudh was the last of the breed of able queens and generals. The queen led her kingdom’s army into battle during the revolt of 1857. Even after she was defeated she defied Queen Victoria’s famous Proclamation and issued a counter Proclamation.”

4.  Lakshmi Sahgal

Lakshmi Sahgal also known as Laxmi Swaminathan was the first Indian army officer in Azad Hind Fauj also known as Indian National Army. Hence, she is also called Captain Laxmi. The women’s regiment in the Indian National Army was founded under her leadership.  

5. Khudiram Bose

Khudiram Bose is also known as the youngest freedom fighter in India. He was deeply inspired and moved by the speech of Aurobindo Gosh and Sister Nivedita that he joined the Indian freedom movement. On the other hand, he took part actively in a partition of Bengal. 

6.  Surya Sen

Surya Sen also known as Surya Kumar was a Bengali freedom fighter who played a leading role in the 1930 Chittagong armory raid. On the other hand, he was called MasterDa.

9.  Tikendrajit Singh

Bir Tikendrajit Singh, also known as Lion of Manipur, was commander of the Manipur army and Prince of Manipur. He sacrificed his whole life in the struggle for independence instead of enjoying royal belongings. On the other hand, he conducted a palace revolution which led to the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891. 

10.  Jhalkaribai

Jhalkaribai was a female Indian soldier who played an important role in the revolt of 1857. On the other hand, she was not only a prominent advisor of Rani Laxmi Bai but also served in Rani Laxmi Bai’s women’s army.

11.  Durgabai Deshmukh

Durgabai Deshmukh, also known as the Iron Lady of India, was a freedom fighter, lawyer, and passionate social worker. On the other hand, she got the Padma Vibhushan in 1975 for promoting literacy in India. She played an important role in the Salt-Satyagraha and Civil disobedience movement and was imprisoned for that. Along with this, she founded Andhra Mahila Sabha. 

12.  K. E. Mammen

Kandathil Eapen Mammen also known as Kerala Gandhi was a freedom fighter who was a follower of Mahatma Gandhi and K. Kelappan. On the other hand, he became an activist in his college days. 

13.  Pingali Venkayya

Pingali Venkayya is quite famous because he is the one who designed the Indian national flag. On the other hand, Mahatma Gandhi asked him to submit the design of the flag at the AICC session held at Bezwada and he did it in three hours.
